MISSION
The committee’s mission is to utilize and ensure the constructive use of the program of the Boy Scouts of America as a viable form of youth ministry with Catholic youth of the Archdiocese.
PURPOSE
The purpose of the committee is to seek to sustain and strengthen the relationship between the Boy Scouts of America and the Catholic Church and to work to cooperatively with local affiliates of the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM) and various other groups involved in youth ministry throughout the Archdiocese.
AUTHORITY
The Committee chair and chaplain are appointed by and serve at the discretion of the Archbishop of Dubuque. Members of the committee are recruited from the Boy Scout Councils within the Archdiocese, and the committee works to supplement the programs of the local council Catholic Committees. The Archdiocesan Committee also oversees the awarding of various unit and adult recognition programs under the direction of the National Catholic Committee on Scouting.
