Couples Small Groups

Couples Small Groups provide an opportunity for connection amongst married couples. A group of about four to six couples can meet regularly (for example, weekly or monthly) in a comfortable location to share their married life experiences and to mutually support one another. Utilizing a marriage enrichment program that provide structure and content to the sessions is recommended to keep the group focused and formative. Teams of Our Lady is an international lay movement in the Catholic Church, designed to enrich marriage spirituality and make good marriages better. Teams provide a proven method of increasing and improving prayer life, which will help couples grow closer to God and each other. A team is comprised of five to seven couples whose marriage is recognized in the Catholic Church. The team meets one time per month, rotating from one home to another. Some teams might have a spiritual counselor or Priest Spiritual Counselor as part of their team. The team shares a simple meal, prayer, sharing, and a study topic. The team becomes a close community that can inspire one another through their living examples of faith, and share with one another their struggles and successes on their way to holiness.

The mission of the Wojtyła Community & Institute is to support spouses who wish to follow the Rule of St. John Paul II. Through the Rule, he invites good, strong couples to become great in holiness! As a husband and wife open their hearts more to the grace of the sacrament, they become closer to God and to each other, and this produces lasting joy! After reading the Rule for Married Couple Groups by St. John Paul II, Peter and Theresa Martin knew it had to be shared! They founded the Wojtyła Community & Institute (WCI) to bring the Rule to the English-speaking world! The WCI also supports those who wish to follow the Rule through leadership training, workbooks, dialogue journals, and more! St. John Paul II said spouses need heroic virtue to live authentically Christian marriages in this increasingly secular culture. In order to live this higher level of virtue, he says, you need the support of a committed community. The WCI follows his 6-point Rule in establishing Married Couple Groups, training the leaders, building community, praying together, and sharing our joy-filled love with the Church and the world!

Be Light, a marriage enrichment movement, draws married Catholic couples closer together in Christ while being transformed into family missionary disciples within their own communities. While focused on supporting newly married couples during the fundamental first five years of their marriage, Be Light also helps all married couples in a community to open their hearts to the powerful way God remains present to them in the Holy bond of Matrimony. The provided videos explore various topics including belonging, expectations, the need for community, couples works of mercy and living as missionary disciples.
