K-Grade 2
1. Know there are seven sacraments: Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Matrimony, Holy Orders.
2. Learn about Baptism, Reconciliation and Eucharist.
3. Know the sacraments are a community celebration.
4. Know sacraments are signs of God’s Love.
5. Know a ritual action of each of these three sacraments.
6. Know Baptism welcomes them into the family of God.
7. Know Reconciliation as the gift of God’s forgiveness.
8. Understand that we need the gift of God’s forgiveness.
9. Know that Jesus is present in the Eucharist.
Grades 3-5
1. Know the seven sacraments as sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist), service (Matrimony, Holy Orders) and healing (Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick).
2. Know symbols and signs for each sacrament.
3. Know how God’s love and saving power is celebrated and is received in each of the seven sacraments.
4. Understand that the sacraments are a community celebration.
5. Know the proper disposition for receiving the sacraments.
Grades 6-8
1. Know: a) Definitions b) signs c) symbols and d) proper ministers of the seven sacraments.
2. Know the Biblical origin and spiritual significance of the seven sacraments.
3. Recognize that the sacraments celebrate the presence of God’s grace in our lives and should be received with the proper disposition.
4. Recognize that in Confirmation the Holy Spirit brings us into a deeper relationship with Christ, with the Church, and with the mission of the Church.
5. Recognize that in Confirmation the Holy Spirit helps us to bear witness to our faith.
