Faith Formation Leaders are highly encouraged to join us for a day of training on one of the most controversial and often misunderstood topics of our time – Gender Dysphoria and Gender Theory. Janine Idziak, Ph.D., Bioethicist and Chancellor for the Archdiocese of Dubuque will present on the current scientific research, terminology, and Church teaching surrounding this issue. There will also be time for discussion, Q&A, and personal reflection.*
Two training dates/locations are available (choose the one that best fits your schedule):
Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at St. Mary, Manchester, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Thursday, September 21, 2023 at St. Mary, Waverly, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
The cost to attend is $25 and includes morning treats, lunch, and materials.
*Note: At this time, the Archdiocese does not have a formal policy on what parishes must or must not do, specifically for those who may be struggling with gender dysphoria. This training will provide formation so that FFLs may better understand the topic. It will be up to each FFL, in conversation with her/his pastor, to determine how to pastorally respond in each situation.
