Part 25: Liturgy of the Eucharist: Offertory

After the collection, unleavened wheat bread (called hosts) and pure grape wine are presented to the priest. These are used at Holy Mass because this is what Jesus used at the Last Supper.

Bread and wine are collective symbols that represent the gifts of money each individual places in the collection basket, which in turn represent their gift of self to God.

It is not necessary to include the collection money in the presentation of gifts; again, the time, talent, and treasure donated in the basket are already symbolized by the bread and wine.
