Hello, my name is Michael Manternach and I am a junior at Loras college and a third year Seminarian. I come from a family of six. I have a loving mother (Jill) and father (Paul) who parent my three siblings (two sisters one brother) and I.
I graduated from Newman Catholic High School in 2019 and I am currently majoring in philosophy and politics. I believe that the priest’s job is to enable the community to grow in their relationship with God as they journey through all that life is.
Only after multiple experiences of Hearing Gods’s call did I consider the seminary. The commitment that applying to seminary seemed to require made me uneasy. However, as I am experiencing this growth in my spiritual, physical, and intellectual life through seminary now, I simply am thankful for the gift that Seminary is currently in my life. I would invite every man to be open to God’s call wherever that may lead them. I ask for prayers as I continue in my discernment and want to express my thanks for the Diocese’s support.
